Hammond man killed in motorcycle crash
HAMMOND – Police say a Hammond man was killed Saturday morning when his motorcycle drifted off a road and struck a guardrail on I-55.
According to Louisiana State Police, 24-year-old Charlie Garner died when his motorcycle drifted off the road on the I-55 service road near mile marker 28.4.
Police say Garner’s Honda Rebel traveled down a grass embankment and hit an I-55 guardrail support beam. He was ejected from his motorcycle and later pronounced dead at the scene. Carner was wearing a DOT approved helmet.
Investigators say they don’t know if Garner was impaired and toxicology tests are still pending.
