Grand jury indicts man accused of sexually abusing, threatening to kill child

BELLE ROSE- An Assumption Parish Grand Jury has indicted a man after he was accused of sexually abusing a child and threatening her life.

Deputies from the Assumption Parish Sheriff's Office were alerted to an incident around Dec. 5, 2016, after receiving a complaint from the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services. Authorities were told about an incident relating to sexual crimes upon a female child under the age of 12.

The suspect was identified as 22-year-old Trevis Ray.

Authorities said during the commission of the crime, Ray allegedly threatened to kill the victim if she told anyone about the encounter.

Evidence was presented to a grand jury which resulted in Ray being indicted on one count of felony sexual battery.

Ray was already being held on multiple unrelated counts and remains incarcerated.
