Ethel double murder suspect is in jail in Germany
ETHEL - A woman wanted in connection with a double murder in East Feliciana Parish last year is in custody in Europe, the WBRZ Investigative Unit learned Tuesday.
Dulce Maria Funez, 34, is in jail in Germany. Authorities in the United States said they are aware of an arrest but stopped short of confirming the arrest.
A reporter with a German news agency said Funez was apprehended when talking with police about government documents related to her being able to secure a job in Germany. Specifics of her arrest and how she got from Louisiana to Germany remain unclear.
A State Police spokesperson said detectives were privy to some details "but do not have any definitive information at this time. "[Detectives] will work with EFSO detectives and investigators in Germany to further the investigation," the spokesperson added.
Funez and Armandao Reyes Diaz, 31, are the prime suspects in the April 27, 2014, murders of Connie and Eddie Earl Hall, who were found stabbed to death in their Ethel home. State Police are handling the investigation.
In previous WBRZ.com reports, authorities were quoted as warning the couple may be traveling with a boy younger than 10-years-old. There was no information available about the child or the whereabouts of Diaz.
