Escaped inmate steals car from Lafayette dealership
LAFAYETTE – Deputies in Lafayette Parish say an inmate who walked away from a housing unit Wednesday later stole a car from a car dealership Thursday has been arrested.
According to a KATC report, Shane Paul Thomas has an extensive criminal history including drug and theft charges. After deputies discovered that Thomas walked away from the housing unit, a manhunt began and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Thursday, Posh Pre-Owned in Lafayette reported that Thomas stole a 2015 white convertible Ford Mustang. Thomas allegedly tried to trade in another vehicle, then drove away with the Mustang.
Crowley Police arrested Thomas at a Dollar General Store in Rayne, La., the chief of police confirmed.
