Early morning shooting leaves 1 dead in LaPlace

LAPLACE - Sheriff’s deputies in St. John the Baptist Parish are investigating a shooting that left one man dead early this morning in LaPlace.

Deputies say the shooting happened at a residence in the 400 block of Orange Loop in LaPlace at around 4:32 a.m. Responding deputies found a 39-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound.

The man was taken to an area hospital where he died from his injuries. There were no other injuries at the scene of the shooting, according to deputies.

Investigators say two suspects knocked at the door of the residence, and when the victim opened the door an argument began. The victim was shot, and the suspects fled the scene.
