BATON ROUGE- Fire crews responded to a fire at Dearman's restaurant on Jefferson Highway early Tuesday morning.

According to BRFD spokesman Curt Monte, the fire broke out in a back storage room of the restaurant around 2 a.m. Saint George and Baton Rouge fire crews both responded to the scene.

Authorities believe that the blaze caused about $300,000 worth of damage to the building and an additional $200,000 worth of damage to the contents inside. No injuries were reported.

Several of the surrounding businesses also suffered smoke damage from the blaze. Authorities are still looking into what caused the fire, but foul play is not suspected.
