BATON ROUGE - Police filed a search warrant seeking to test whether a driver was intoxicated when he barreled into a home in the Kenilworth neighborhood, killing two people.
The crash happened on Kenilworth Parkway around 11 p.m. Saturday. Police said a 2010 Subaru Outback slammed into a tree before crashing into a home.
According to authorities, two people were killed as a result of the crash, both passengers inside the vehicle. Joshua Perry, 24, and Corey Des Marteau, 21, were identified as the victims.
The driver, who has not been identified, was taken to a local hospital. No one was hurt inside the home.
A search warrant signed by a judge Sunday said investigators planned to draw blood from the driver to test for alcohol or other dangerous substances. The documents said an officer at the scene suspected the driver, who was unconscious when he arrived at the hospital, may have been intoxicated after smelling a strong scent of alcohol on his breath.
