ST. HELENA PARISH - A rapper known around town as "Monkey" is wanted in connection with a deadly double shooting in October.

St. Helena Parish sheriff's deputies said the rapper, whose real name is Jarman King, was involved in the shooting death of one person and the shooting and injuring of another on Calmes Road on Oct. 22 in the late afternoon.

Calmes Road is a stretch of road between sand and gravel pits along LA 63.

The sheriff's office has not yet released the shooting victims' names.

Deputies described King as very violent with a history of involvement in violent crimes.

He has an outstanding warrant from Sept. 7 for possession of a stolen firearm, illegal use of a weapon and aggravated assault with a firearm.

King is also wanted on charges of armed robbery and murder for an incident on Oct. 27. No further details on these cases were provided.

Deputies say King is from Baker and has ties to Baton Rouge and St. Helena Parish.

"King should be considered armed and dangerous," according to the sheriff's office.

For the Oct. 22 shooting, King will face additional charges of armed robbery, murder, attempted armed robbery and aggravated battery upon his arrest.
