Cool Schools: Baton Rouge Magnet High School's PIT Crew
BATON ROUGE - A group of students from Baton Rouge Magnet High School volunteered at Petco off of Perkins Road over the weekend.
The Pit Crew is a club that helps out at the Companion Animal Alliance of Baton Rouge and off-site pet adoption events.
"They do a lot of social media," teacher Laurie Font said. "We've done towel drives, food drives, money drives, just anything they can do to get involved."
The Pit Crew started three years ago, and it became an outlet for students to find their passion.
According to high school senior Maia Cavell, the animal shelter were doing everything they can, but can't do as much as they would like to because of the limited space, funds and stay they have.
Students enjoy spending time with dogs, cats and even snakes. The Pit Crew helped out with 40 animal adoptions this weekend.
