Convicted sex offender accused of impersonating officer, raping man
BAKER- A convicted sex offender has been accused of impersonating a police officer and raping a man.
Around 8:50 p.m. Sunday a man went to the Baker Police station and told authorities he was raped by someone who was impersonating a police officer.
Mark David Russell, 55, of 4635 Baker Blvd., was booked into Parish Prison on counts of rape, false imprisonment and impersonating a police officer, Baker Police Chief Carl Dunn said.
Dunn said Russell was driving what appeared to be an unmarked police car when he stopped a man Wednesday. Russell convinced the man to go back to his house and allegedly sexually assaulted him there.
On Monday morning police executed a search warrant on Russell's home.
Russell was convicted in 1993 of rape, molestation of a juvenile, and sexual battery.
