City council appoints replacement for Matassa's seat
GONZALES - The city council here appointed David Guitreau to fill the rest of former councilman Kenny Matassa's term.
Matassa was elected parish president in December. He had to resign from the council to run the parish.
The vote Monday night is the second time Guitreau, a contractor, has been tapped to temporarily serve on city government. In January 2015, Guitreau was put on the council by Governor Bobby Jindal after Gary Lacombe resigned. A special election was held later in the spring to replace him.
This time, Guitreau will serve until an election in the fall.
