Brusly police say prosecutor will decide whether charges warranted after 4-year-old shoots himself
BRUSLY — A 4-year-old boy who shot and killed himself with a gun found in the console of a pickup truck was the son of a Brusly city council member, the police department said Monday.
Hudson Tassin was the son of Blake Tassin, who was elected to the city council in 2020 and is seeking re-election this year.
Earlier Monday, police said the results of their investigation would be turned over to the district attorney's office for a determination of whether criminal charges should be filed. A decision could come by the end of the week, police said.
The West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office said the child died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound Sunday morning. WBRZ learned Monday the gun had been in a holster in the console of the truck.
The sheriff's office said the boy pulled out the gun when an adult in the truck stepped out to adjust a trailer. While the child was unsupervised, the child got into the secure area where the gun was kept.
