Angola assistant warden charged with rape
ANGOLA – An assistant warden at the state penitentiary was booked into the local parish jail on rape charges.
The West Feliciana Parish Sheriff's Office said Barrett Boeker, 34, was booked on second-degree rape in an assault. The attack happened on Nov. 30, according to a police report released by the sheriff's office.
The state's corrections department confirmed what local authorities originally indicated: the attack happened at Boeker's residence, which was listed on Falcon Drive within the gates of the Angola Prison.
An arrest warrant was filed Dec. 20 and Boeker turned himself in soon after, authorities said. Judge William G. Carmichael set the bond at $200,000.
Boeker is on paid administrative leave. He has worked at the prison since Sept. 2001. Boeker was off duty at the time the attack is alleged to have occurred.
