3 people, drunk driver injured in Airline Hwy DWI crash
BATON ROUGE - Police reported the arrest of a man for second offense DWI after he crashed into a car stopped at a red light causing a wreck that involved multiple vehicles.
57-year-old Monday Ezebunwo was booked on charges of second offense DWI, failure to maintain control, drivers license not in possession, vehicular negligent injuring, seat belt violation and reckless operation of a vehicle after the wreck that happened just before 10 p.m. Thursday.
Baton Rouge Police say Ezebunwo was driving northbound in the 6900 block of Airline Hwy when he struck the rear of another northbound vehicle that was stopped at a red light. The crash caused two more vehicles to be struck.
Ezebunwo was taken to Our Lady of the Lake hospital along with another driver who was involved in the crash. Both were treated, and a toxicology sample was taken from Ezebunwo. Two other people involved in the multi-vehicle collision were taken to area emergency rooms with injuries.

Police said Ezebunwo did not have a driver’s license on his person at the time of the crash, and they also found an open bottle of gin in the vehicle with him. Ezebunwo was previously arrested for driving while intoxicated in August of 2013.
