DENHAM SPRINGS - A bicyclist died and a man was arrested after a hit-and-run late Saturday.

State Police said Glenn Banta, 56, of Denham Springs, was driving his pickup on LA 1025 just east of LA 16 when he hit and killed Chad Zimmerle, 38, also of Denham Springs.  Banta, State Police said, left the scene.

The crash happened around 10 p.m. Saturday.  Banta was arrested a few hours later, at 2:30 a.m.

Banta was charged with hit and run and driving under suspension.

Investigators did not release why Banta may have left the scene. 

This crash remains under investigation and additional charges are pending, State Police said in a news release.
